A disability-focused micro business created to help a young man gain financial independence while highlighting his abilities, not disabilities. Logs by Lou creates one-of-a-kind log stump side tables and home decor using repurposed log home materials and fallen trees that are perfect for any style home.

Your Living

These log stump tables are perfect for any decor and designed for your living-- from modern to rustic. They can be used on their own or grouped together. Choose from what we have in stock in the STORE. Or, you pick the color-grays, browns, natural and there are different heights and diameters. Each piece is unique. As no one tree is the same or perfect, each piece has a character of its own.

Lou's Living

Logs by Lou is an enterprise started by Louis P. and his family to help him become financially independent and lead a fulfilling life. Finding meaningful employment for someone with disabilities is a challenge. Louis is an active young man with intellectual disabilities who likes to work with his hands, likes his independence and wants to make enough money to move out on his own ...just as any young adult!

Our Living

Louis and his family are busy in the special needs world when it comes to advocacy, Special Olympics, sports opportunities, travel, friendship, a lazy dog and more. Our blog gives you a glimpse into our day-to-day lives and issues -- both good and bad --that any family with a young adult with special needs deals with on a daily basis. We laugh. We cry. We yell. We're basically typical. See the blog TRANSITIONS.
THANK YOU LOYAL CUSTOMERS FOR ANOTHER GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON!

About

According to the advocacy group the ARC, the majority of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are either unemployed or underemployed, despite their ability, desire and willingness to work in the community. Our family started Logs for Lou to keep Louis keep busy and help generate income so that he can have a full and rich life in our community. Like all parents of "kids" with disabilities, we will continue to seek outside employment for our son. In the meantime, we are having fun with this enterprise and hope it inspires others to make the most of the situation and create a micro-business that works for them. We look forward to hearing about other small and large businesses that are proactive in hiring people with disabilities.
